1. THE MISSION: Where can I make the biggest contribution, what am I really being paid for, or what is my Mission?

2. MOTIVATING PEOPLE: You motivate professionals, knowledge people, and managers by making demands on them for performance, for responsibility. The moral of every organization is set at the top, and it is set by the standards, by the demands the people at the top make on themselves.

3. LEADERSHIP: A leader is not the same thing as being popular. A leader means somebody who is taken seriously.

4. INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP: People in organizations behave as they are being rewarded, and so companies that want to innovate must recognize and reward innovation and entrepreneurship.

5. INFORMATION: Information doesn't come out of the computer, it doesn't come out of the accounting system. Data come out, what is information is my definition.

6. TEAM BUILDING: The important thing in building a team is that there has to be a leader. Otherwise you don 't have a team, you have a mob.

7. RESULTS: You have to define what are results for me in this organization, at this time, and make sure that the organization and the people you work with understand that.

8. LEARNING: You sit down, every 3 years is a good rule, and look at your work: am I doing enough that forces me to learn? Most of us are lazy, and learning is hard work, so you have to force yourself.

9. LEADING CHANGE: All the talk about managing change is nonsense. You can only be a change leader, not a change manager. You can only be ahead of change.

10. TIME MANAGEMENT: The senior executive is a prisoner of the organization, and doesn 't have a great deal of time. The idea of Time Management is a better idea than its reality.
